Birsta City's success story begins in 1967 when the fourth IKEA department store in the world opened. Today, Birsta City is the largest shopping center in northern Sweden, with over 4 million visitors each year. Birsta City, which was completely renovated in 2008, contains around 100 shops along a wide walkway on two levels. Here you'll find great shopping with the leading chains, local favorites, restaurants and cafes. And IKEA, of course. Birsta City is popular - for the second consecutive year, the shopping center was voted Sweden's most popular in 2011 by Market magazine and visitors.
